Nea Hraklia Chalkidiki
Nea Iraklia is a refugee village of the Municipality of Kallikratia in the prefecture of Chalkidiki. It has 698 inhabitants in 2001 and is a settlement of St. Paulʼs Municipal District. It is located at a distance of approximately 5 kilometers in the northwest of Nea Kallikratia. The inhabitants are mainly engaged in tourism, agriculture and fishing. The visitor will find beaches and can find taverns and accommodation.
At the beach of Nea Iraklia, Halkidiki, called the Sahara or Golden Beach, is a recorded wetland dune system called Elos Sera. Dunes beyond their natural beauty also act as a natural filter and flood dam for salty sea water, stabilizing the shoreline and the ground.
